Step 3: Get Started on Your Development Permit and Subdivision

Before you can apply for a Building Permit to build your proposed triplex or fourplex you need to receive a number of approvals from the City. You will need:

Prior to applying for a Development Permit, you may wish to apply for a Pre-Application to receive a coordinated high-level review from appropriate City departments regarding any major issued determined from preliminary concept plans.

You may also need:

  • A Subdivision to be approved by the City, and registered in the Land Title Office. 
  • A Watercourse Protection Development Permit to be approved by City staff, if the proposed  development is located within a Watercourse Protection Development Permit Area in the Maillardville, Austin Heights and Burquitlam-Lougheed Neighbourhood Plans).
