The City of Coquitlam holds environmental achievement award and volunteer celebrations to recognize community volunteers who excel in the areas of conservation, public awareness, environmental education, habitat enhancement and sustainable living.
2020 Environmental Achievement Awards
The Environmental Achievement Awards recognize volunteers and environmental stewards who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to promote, preserve and enhance Coquitlam’s natural environment.
A sample of volunteer actions and projects from previous years includes:
Invasive plant removal
Nest box maintenance and guided public hikes
Nominees do not need to be residents of Coquitlam, but the activities for which they are being nominated should occur in Coquitlam or should be of benefit to our community. The nomination deadline is Friday, May 1, 2020.
Eligible Projects & Activities
Nominations can be made for individuals or groups who volunteer or go above and beyond in the areas of:
Environmental education/public awareness
Energy and water conservation
Invasive species management
Eligible volunteers and organizations can also nominate themselves.
Group - Organization, Service Club, etc.
Group - School or Youth Club
Individual - Ages 19 and over
Individual - Ages 13 to 18
Individual Green Sprout - Ages 3 to 12
Lifetime Achievement - 20 years or more of volunteer experience
Teacher or Educator
