[ARCHIVED] Coquitlam Closes All City Facilities to Public

COQUITLAM, B.C., March 18, 2020 – Following the Provincial government announcement of a province-wide state of emergency related to COVID-19, the City of Coquitlam will be closing all civic facilities to the public until further notice.

Earlier this week, Coquitlam closed its community and recreation centres as an added precaution to reduce exposure and transmission of the virus. As of end of business on Wednesday, March 18, the following City facilities will also be closed to the public:

  • City Hall
  • All Fire Halls
  • Coquitlam Animal Shelter
  • Coquitlam RCMP Public Safety Building
  • Robinson Memorial Cemetery Park Administrative Offices

A full list of City facility closures, as well as partner facility closures can be viewed at www.coquitlam.ca/covid19.

City Hall and Other City Services

Part of our role as a municipality is to provide core public services that are essential to the health, security and stability of the community. While all civic facilities are closed to the public, all essential City services will be maintained. City staff will continue to work and will be accessible by phone or email.

Where appropriate, residents are encouraged to use the City’s online services. For more information, visit www.coquitlam.ca/eservices.

Visit www.coquitlam.ca/contact for City contact information or visit www.coquitlam.ca/covid19 for up-to-date information on City services.

Council & Other Scheduled Meetings

The public hearing scheduled for Monday, March 30 has been cancelled, however the Regular Council meetings will proceed as scheduled to allow City Council to make any decisions needed to support the City’s response to the current pandemic situation. Social distancing measures have been put in place.

All Council meetings are broadcast live and also available archived online at www.coquitlam.ca/webcasts. Meetings can also be viewed through the CoquitlamConnect app.

The April 2 Town Hall Meeting has also been cancelled.

Updates will follow as the situation evolves.

Utility Bills

Residents can pay their utility bill online at www.coquitlam.ca/utilitypayment with a debit or credit card. Most major financial institutions also allow you to pay through your account using the five-digit account number at the top of your bill. You can also drop off a cheque at a City Hall drop box, at the main entrance facing Burlington Drive or in the underground parking area.

Utility bill payments are due on March 31.

Waste Services

Garbage and green waste collection services are operating normally at this time. Coquitlam residents are encouraged to sign up for waste collection reminders or download the ReCollect app to get the latest information regarding the City’s waste collection services. For more information visit www.coquitlam.ca/recollect.

Animal Shelter

If you need to drop off or pick up an animal from the Animal Shelter, please call 604-927-7386 to speak to a staff member about how to safely facilitate the exchange.
