[ARCHIVED] Extra Yard Trimmings Collection for Fall Leaves

Gathering leaves

COQUITLAM, BC, Oct. 13, 2021 – As fall yard clean up gets underway, the City is offering its seasonal unlimited curbside collection of fallen leaves, yard waste and other yard trimmings.

From Monday, Oct. 18 – Friday, Nov. 26, Coquitlam residents receiving Garbage and Green Cart collection from the City can put out additional yard trimmings for curbside pick up on their regular collection day.

Set-out options for additional yard trimmings:

  • Use Kraft paper bags or old garbage cans labeled with a Coquitlam ‘Yard Trimmings’ sticker - call 604-927-3500 and press ‘1’ to request additional stickers.
  • Branches up to 7.5 cm (3 in) in diameter and 1 m (3 ft) in length are accepted in tied bundles.

Know the Rules

  • Place food scraps in your City-issued Green Cart only - kraft paper bags or old garbage cans are for yard trimmings material only.
  • Do not set out City-issued carts before 5:30 a.m. on collection day, even if the Green Cart contains only yard trimmings.
  • Bundles and containers must not block sidewalks, laneways or streets and can weigh no more than 20 kg (44 lbs) each. Sod, rocks, soil and plastic bags, even those listed as biodegradable or compostable, are not accepted.

Additional yard trimmings material is collected separately and may be picked up after regular Garbage and Green Cart waste has been collected. If your additional yard trimmings are not collected by 7:30 p.m. on your collection day, please call the City’s collection contractor, Waste Connections of Canada, at 604-636-3520.
