[ARCHIVED] Fun in Store for Coquitlam’s 2022 Youth Week

News Flash - Youth Week 2022

COQUITLAM, B.C., April 25, 2022 – Coquitlam youth can sign up now for more than 18 free in-person activities taking place during Youth Week May 1 to 7.

The City has planned a full week of pre-registered and drop-in activities at recreation facilities and around the community for Youth Week, an annual celebration of youth and their contributions. 

Free games, arts and crafts, wellness activities, swimming, skating and more are scheduled. Details and registration links can be found at www.coquitlam.ca/youthweek

What’s in Store for 2022 Youth Week

The fun kicks off May 1 with Youth Yoga and a week-long scavenger hunt. Youth ages 11 to 18 doing the scavenger hunt must register online by May 1 at www.coquitlam.ca/youthweek to be eligible to win a prize. Once registered, clues will be emailed each day. Participants will take selfies at various Coquitlam locations and submit them for prizes at the end of the week. Youth can participate with friends or on their own.

Daily pre-registered activities are running May 1 to 7 at locations including Pinetree and Poirier community centres, Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (PSLC) and City Centre Aquatic Complex (CCAC). Most are aimed at the 13 to 18 age group, with a few opportunities for ages 11 to 14.

  • Inventive Eco Art

Friday, May 6

  • Basketball contest
  • Improv Comedy
  • Fitness Orientations
  • Karaoke Night
  • Youth Night at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex

Saturday, May 7

  • Try-It: Barre
  • Pre-Teen Glow in the Dark Dance

Other Opportunities for Coquitlam Youth

Youth can also take part in drop-ins at Coquitlam’s two youth centres and sign up for registered multi-day programs in May and June, including sports, arts and fitness at www.coquitlam.ca/registration.
