Mark Your Calendar for Upcoming Town Hall Meeting

COQUITLAM, B.C., April 25, 2023 – Coquitlam residents, business owners and partners will have the floor at the City’s upcoming Town Hall Meeting on Tuesday, May 9 from 7 to 9 p.m.

What Happens at Town Hall Meetings?

There is no set agenda at Coquitlam’s Town Hall Meeting. Instead, community members have an opportunity to voice their opinions, suggest new ideas and ask questions of City Council. Senior City staff also participate in order to respond to inquiries.

Community feedback submitted during the Town Hall Meeting provides Council and staff important information about City services, changes taking place in the community and future opportunities.

These meetings are also a great way for individuals and organizations to get to know their municipal government, have their voices heard, and contribute to the liveability of our community.

How to Participate

Everyone is welcome to participate:

  • In person in Council Chambers at City Hall (3000 Guildford Way, Coquitlam) or
  • Online via the Zoom webinar – registration is required and the link is available at coquitlam.ca/TownHall

The meeting can also be viewed live at coquitlam.ca/Webcasts. Those who are unable to view live will be able to watch the recording posted at coquitlam.ca/Webcasts by noon on May 10.

Participants can ask questions, comment or provide feedback in various ways:

  • Ask a question in person
  • Use the “raise hand” feature in the Zoom webinar
  • Join the online Question and Answer (Q&A) at slido.com/CQTownHall
  • Email townhall@coquitlam.ca with “Town Hall” in the subject line
  • Join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter @cityofcoquitlam #CQTownHall

Advanced questions are encouraged, but questions will be accepted until 8:30 p.m. on May 9, 2023. Due to time limitations, if there are several questions that are similar, only one question may be put to Council. As such, not all questions may receive a response; however, every effort will be made to address as many as possible. Staff will follow-up on questions that do not receive a response at the Town Hall after the meeting.

Questions to Council must follow the City’s guidelines for a respectful meeting. Find details at coquitlam.ca/TownHall. Meeting minutes summarizing discussion at the Town Hall will be available and published at coquitlam.ca/Webcasts in June.

Participants are advised that by submitting a question, comment or suggestion, the information you provide, including your name and address, will become part of the public record and will be made available on the City’s website at coquitlam.ca. The information collected and used is done so in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-kwuh-tlum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the sq̓əc̓iy̓aɁɬ təməxʷ (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
