For Susan, fitness is PILATES! This is her story…
“I first tried Pilates a number of years ago. I was working full time, raising two daughters, and life was pretty hectic. I was having difficulty finding time to keep fit and wasn’t even sure what I should be doing to stay in shape. I needed something I could lock into my weekly schedule that was easy to access, accommodated beginners, and didn’t need any special equipment (like racquets or special shoes). To start, I knew I could commit to one hour a week.
I found Pilates, a low impact class that focuses on strengthening core muscles while improving balance, mobility and flexibility; this class ticked all the boxes!
Over the years I’ve found time to branch out and try other types of fitness classes, and sports, but Pilates is my fitness anchor. With the on and off restrictions from the pandemic impacting live fitness classes, the City’s virtual class option was a life saver. The Zoom Pilates class enabled me to stay on track with my routine, connected with my instructor and other participants, and ultimately to continue a class that I love safely. Once a week, for one hour, Pilates works for me – I feel fitter, stronger, and maybe even walk a bit taller. I always, always feel better and more energized by the end of class. For me, Fitness is PILATES!”
