Grant Program Changes in 2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hard Rock Casino remains closed with no indication of when it might open.  As a result, the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program is still on hold.

Grant funding has been redirected to a new targeted pandemic-response grant. Please see the Community Support and Recovery Program page for details.

The change for 2020 was necessary because:

  • The program’s primary funding source – Casino Hosting Agreement proceeds – will not resume until the Hard Rock Casino reopens.

About Spirit of Coquitlam Grants

Please check back later in 2021 for updates on application intakes.

The City provides annual grants twice a year to non-profit, community-based organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program. Its intent is to build community spirit by providing community grant funds for public art, sport activities/programs, festivals and events, sports hosting, capital projects and new initiatives aligned with the City's strategic goals.

Funding is derived from the Casino Host Agreement revenue. Since 2002, the City of Coquitlam has awarded $8.83 million to over 200 different organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program.
