The City of Coquitlam is committed to protecting your personal privacy in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165, as amended (the "Act"). When you use the City’s mobile app (Coquitlam Connect), you are anonymous until you decide to identify yourself.
The City’s mobile app does not automatically collect or retain your email address in a database. The City’s mobile app through a third-party temporarily logs your IP address, may collect and store your device location, and may use "cookies" for the purposes of analyzing trends, administering the mobile app, tracking mobile app visitors’ preferences, and for gathering general demographic information. Installation UUID and crash traces are kept for 90 days. The following information is also stored for 180 days (and maybe requested for deletion sooner by the user): UDID on iOS, secure Android ID, and GCM Token.
If you choose to communicate with the City through the City mobile app, other than through the secure e-commerce processes where you have been provided with a unique identifier or password by the City, your communication becomes the property of the City. This means there will be instances where the City may be required (by the Act) to release your communication. The City is not required to notify you if your communication is released or compensate you for the use of your communication.
Privacy Statement - Secured Transactions
When the City receives your personal information through a secured environment, the City will only ask you for the personal information that it needs to provide you with the service you request. The City will use all reasonable steps to ensure the security of that information once received and will not distribute it to any third party unless required by law to do so.
