Life Stories: The Justice System, Homelessness, & Addiction

Tuesday, November 8, 2022

Listen to the real-life stories of people from marginalized groups and how they have experienced prejudice, social exclusion, or stigma. The series runs every Tuesday from Oct. 25 - Nov. 22 from 6:30-8:00 pm. Register for individual sessions.

Join the Library and Elizabeth Fry Society (EFry) for an informative discussion. EFry was founded in 1939 by a small group of volunteers dedicated to transforming conditions for women and girls in custody. Flash-forward more than 80 years, and their mission remains the same.

Hear from Shawn Bayes, Executive Director, and Kristie Gordon, as they showcase how their organization continues to identify the needs of marginalized groups, through identifying gaps in the Canadian criminal justice system and creating solutions to fill those voids.

 Other sessions in the series:
 - Oct 25 - People Living with Disabilities
 - Nov 1 - LGBTQ+ Community
 - Nov 8 - The Justice System, Homelessness, & Addiction
 - Nov 15 - Indigenous Peoples
 - Nov 22 - Newcomers and Refugees
