National Indigenous Peoples Day
Tuesday, June 21, 2022
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day – a time to celebrate the history, heritage, diversity and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in Canada.
We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the City of Coquitlam is located on the shared, traditional and ancestral lands of the k?ik?????m (Kwikwetlem), sq??c?iy?a?? t?m?x? (Katzie), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
On this day we encourage you to learn more about, advocate for and reconcile with the Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, now known as North America.
Not Sure How to Recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day?
Learning about Indigenous Peoples history and culture is a step forward each of us can take on the path to reconciliation. To help support your journey, we are sharing links to activities as well as learning resources.
