Park trails connect neighbourhoods and provide a scenic forest experience, guiding visitors along a portion of Scott Creek. The Creek is part of the network of waterways that feed into the Coquitlam River and support the Lower Coquitlam Watershed. Ongoing restoration and enhancement projects improve the habitats for fish species such as coho and chum salmon, cutthroat and steelhead trout.
The edges of wetlands and waterways are called Riparian areas. The plants in these areas provide food and shelter and also act as filters to keep sediment and pollutants from entering the water. The protection of riparian areas is critical for healthy fish and wildlife.
