Coquitlam’s next General Local Election will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Eligible voters will elect:

The City of Coquitlam holds elections in accordance with the Local Government Act, the Community Charter and the School Act.

Register to Vote by August 18, 2026

Register with Elections BC to make the voting process faster and easier. Eligible voters can still register in person at the time of voting. 

Register to vote if you:

  • Are 18 years or older, have lived in B.C. for more than six months, and are a Canadian citizen
  • Have moved since the last election, update your voter information such as your residential or mailing address
  • Plan to vote by mail
  • Are 16 or 17 years old,  you can add your name to the “Future Voters” list

Important Dates

  • January 1, 2026: Election period begins
  • July 20, 2026: Pre-campaign period begins 
  • July 31, 2026: Deadline to apply to register an elector organization with Elections BC 
  • August 18, 2026: Deadline for voter registration with Elections BC 
  • September 1, 2026: Nomination period begins at 9 a.m.
  • September 11, 2026: Close of nominations at 4 p.m.
  • September 19, 2026: Campaign period begins
  • October 17, 2026: General Voting Day 
  • January 15, 2027: Disclosure statement filing deadline
  • February 16, 2027: Late filing deadline for disclosure statements (with $500 fee)
