The City Centre Community Garden is a temporary 50 plot garden set on the land at 1210 Pinetree Way, just north of City Centre Aquatic Complex.
These new community garden plots will be filled by gardeners who were displaced by the removal of the plots at Town Centre Park due to the Coquitlam Water Main project led by Metro Vancouver. For those interested in other opportunities within Coquitlam parks, check out the Park Spark program.
As part of the work involved to develop the garden, approximately 50 immature alder and cottonwood will be removed. To ensure no nests or nesting birds are disturbed during the process, all tree removal work will take place before the bird nesting window opens on March 1.
Construction will begin mid-February and is expected to be completed by late-spring 2024.
