Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex Volunteer Opportunities

Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex offers a variety of volunteer opportunities in Aquatics, Ice and Fitness. Volunteers may participate in activities such as swimming lessons, ice skating lessons as well as provide assistance in the weight room and fitness classes.

Aquatics

Swimming Lesson Assistant
Bring your enthusiasm to Coquitlam’s Aquatic Staff and gain experience in swim instruction. Duties may include 1-on-1 support to children and/or supporting a class under the direction of an instructor.

Special Event / Birthday Party Assistant
Volunteers help with birthday parties and special events by assisting staff with setting up and running activities at birthday parties or special events. This volunteer opportunity does not require the volunteer to have completed Swim Kids 10.

Ice

Skate Instructor Assistant
Skate Instructor Assistants will help in the delivery of learn to skate lessons for kids aged 3 to 12. They may be asked to give support to specific children or help the group at large. The learn to skate program is focused on the basics so volunteers do not need to be exceptional skaters.

Fitness

Fitness Program Assistant
The Fitness Program Assistant works with the Recreation Instructor to deliver exceptional service to participants in the City of Coquitlam group fitness programs. This position will set up and take down classes, keep classes running on schedule, and provide positive encouragement to the participants.

Weight Room Assistant
The Weight Room Assistant works under the direction of the Program Leader to monitor the fitness centre and fitness programs that operate out of the recreation complex. In this position, you will set-up and take-down fitness programs, complete minor facility maintenance and upkeep of fitness equipment, and provide assistance to patrons inquiring about fitness program offerings.
