To zoom in and out use the mouse wheel or the plus and minus icons on the top left of the screen. To return to the original map extents select the house icon below the plus and minus icons.
Click, hold and drag the mouse to pan and move North, South, East or West.
Double-click to zoom in on an area.
While holding the shift button, draw a box to zoom to that area.
To search for an address or street location, use the Search Bar at the top of the screen.
To search based on an address, enter the house number and street name in the available boxes and click on search. The list of street names is pre-populated and will auto-refresh as you type so you may only need to enter the first few letters of the street name before selecting it from the list. •If an exact match is found, that property will be selected and the map will zoom in to that area.
If an exact match is not found based on the house number provided, the search tool will geocode your input and attempt to find the best approximate location for that address. In this case, a point marker will be displayed near that approximate address and the tool window will indicate that an exact match could not be found.
To search for a street only, leave the house number field blank and type in the desired street name. All matching segments of that street will be highlighted and displayed.
Select the Measure tool button on the top right of the screen to launch the measure tools window. There are options to measure both areas and distance and you can also specify the units you wish to see your measurement results in (for example metres of feet).
To measure distance, select the Measure Distance icon in the Measure Tools window then select points along a path in the map to measure a distance. Double click when you want to end your measurement.
To measure area, select the Measure Area icon in the Measure Tools window then select points to specify the area you wish to measure (creating a polygon). Double click when you want to end your measurement.
Use the Map Contents button on the main toolbar to display the Map Contents window.
Select the checkbox beside any dataset or individual layer to toggle that layer on and off.
Use the arrow beside each dataset or folder to expand the contents and view the individual layers beneath.
To view the symbology for a layer, click on the arrow beside the individual layer to expand the contents.
At any time, a map legend can be opened using the Legend button located at the bottom of the screen to view the symbology of features on the map.
Most feature layers in the map have attributes associated with them.
Select the Layer List icon at the bottom of the screen to open the map Layer List window. You can turn on and off the applicable feature datasets and layers you wish to see on the map.
Once the applicable layers or datasets are enabled, single click on any features in those layers. A pop-up window will display the attributes for that feature if it has any. The pop-up window may also list multiple results when features are in close proximity to each other. Use the right and left arrows at the top of the pop-up attribute window to navigate through the results if there are multiple features identified.
You can check the zone, land use designation (under the City Wide Official Community Plan), the area plan, and the neighborhood plan of properties on QtheMap.

You may use QtheMap to view legal surveys that the City has on file. Please note that many of them date back to the 1950s and 1960s and that the City cannot guarantee their accuracy. If the property does not have a legal survey, you may use the measure tool on QtheMap to obtain an estimate of the lot size.
It is recommended to hire a B.C. Certified Land Surveyor if you require knowing the exact size of a property.
