Construction has begun on new public washrooms at the southwest end of Lafarge Lake in Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park, which will be built on the east-facing exterior of Evergreen Cultural Centre with easy access from the surrounding trails.
Building features include:
Two universal and fully accessible stalls, each with their own entrance, toilet, sink and folding change table;
An exterior drinking fountain and water bottle filler;
Wayfinding signs in the surrounding area to direct trail users to the washrooms; and
Lighting to enhance visibility, surveillance and safety.
The construction will have no impact on nearby trail use or Evergreen Cultural Centre operations, and the new washrooms are anticipated to be ready for public use by spring 2021.
