COQUITLAM, B.C. — Today, the City of Coquitlam and Beedie Living unveiled the first detailed renderings of the new community centre at Fraser Mills, a 96-acre (38.8 hectare) master-planned community and Coquitlam's first and only waterfront neighbourhood.

Once complete in 2031, the nearly 60,000-square-foot (5,507-square-metre) accessible recreation and aquatic facility will be owned and operated by the City, and will serve as the anchor for the neighbourhood as it takes shape along the Fraser River. With a focus on fun and inclusive play, the community centre will include something for everyone to enjoy including a leisure pool with waterslides, a five-lane lap pool, a full-size gymnasium for indoor sports, a fitness area, multi-purpose rooms and casual gathering spaces

Located along the waterfront, the state-of-the-art community centre will be next to a central Urban Plaza offering gathering space for everyday use, community events and special activities. With parking underground and nearby, as well as connections to transit and trails, the Fraser Mills Community Centre will offer residents across Coquitlam access to recreation amenities and retail space in one of the city's most significant new developments.

“Through our partnership with Beedie, we're creating more than new amenities — we're creating a place that celebrates the history of the Fraser Mills site while looking ahead to the future of Coquitlam's waterfront,” said Mayor Richard Stewart. “This investment will help shape a complete waterfront neighbourhood with welcoming parks, vibrant public spaces, public art, and a new community centre designed for active recreation and fun. Together, these spaces will create opportunities for people of all ages to gather, stay active and connect as the community grows.”

“We see the community centre as much more than just a building,” says Ryan Beedie, President, Beedie. “It is truly the heart of Fraser Mills. It’s where neighbours will meet, kids will learn to swim, and the community will come together. We’re extremely proud to bring a facility of this calibre to Coquitlam’s waterfront.”

Partnership Brings Public Amenities

In addition to the community centre, the public amenity plan for Fraser Mills also includes public art as well as 16.6 acres of active and passive park space for both people and pets. Divided into three phases, phase one – already underway – includes:

  • Riverfront Park: Featuring a renewed wharf, a destination playground, water play areas, and a youth sports hub including two full-sized tennis courts, the new 4.5-acre (1.8-hectare) park will be a centerpiece for outdoor activities and community gatherings.
  • Historic Como Creek Greenway: This multi-use trail will link key areas of the park, providing easy access to the Fraser River and creating a scenic route for recreation and relaxation.
  • Entry Plaza and Dog Park: A key point of access to the trail network, the entry plaza will include separate fenced off-leash areas for both small and large dogs.
  • Riverside Linear Park: A one-kilometer multi-use trail connecting Riverfront Park to Don Roberts Park. An interim trail will be constructed in phase one, and upgraded during phase three of the park development.

A Complete Community on the Fraser River

The first three residential projects at Fraser Mills – Debut, Encore, and Chapter – are now under construction, completing in 2028 and 2029. Once finished, Fraser Mills will include 5,500 new homes across strata and rental options, urban plazas lined with dining and shopping, and more than 16.6 acres (6.7 hectares) of recreation and green space, reflecting Beedie Living's vision for a complete, walkable, world-class waterfront neighbourhood. Fraser Mills also includes plans for a new elementary school as well as more than 400 childcare spaces.
