Cart Repairs and Replacement
The City of Coquitlam provides one Garbage Cart and one Green Cart to each house that receives City collection services. Additional Green Carts can be purchased from the City, however, additional Garbage Carts are not permitted, even if your home has a legal secondary suite. Carts can be exchanged for different sizes at any time of the year; however, fees may apply (see size options below).
Garbage and Green Carts are City property and have a unique ID printed in white lettering on the front that corresponds with the property address; mixing carts between properties can result in utility billing errors. Please write your address on the white bar on the cart lids to prevent mix-ups.
Cart Size Options
- 120L - 94cm high x 48cm wide x 56cm deep
- 240L – 1.07m high x 58cm wide x 74cm deep (standard size)
- 360L – 1.14m high x 71cm wide x 81cm deep
Garbage and Green Carts can be exchanged for different sizes at any time of the year; however, exchange fees may apply.
Cart Repairs or Replacements
If your Garbage or Green Cart is damaged, please fill out the Cart Repair Form to request a repair or replacement. Once submitted, City staff will contact you within two business days to confirm your request and schedule the repair or replacement.

Cart Exchanges
Garbage Cart Exchanges
Please complete a Cart Exchange Form to request a Garbage Cart exchange. City staff will contact you within two business days to confirm your request and arrange payment, if needed, as well as delivery.
Exchange fees may apply. Home owner approval is required for all Garbage Cart exchanges.
The size of your Garbage Cart determines your property’s annual garbage utility fee (see below). If you change the size of your Garbage Cart after the utility bills have been issued, the new garbage utility rate will be reflected on next year’s bill.
2023 Annual Garbage Utility Fee
- 120L size = $275/year
- 240L size = $364/year (standard size)
- 360L size = $514/year
Green Cart Exchanges
Please complete a Cart Exchange Form to request a Green Cart exchange. City staff will contact you within two business days to confirm your request and arrange payment, as well as delivery.
A $50 fee applies for every Green Cart exchange. The size of your Green Cart does not impact your property’s annual garbage utility fee.
Additional Green Carts
Please complete an Additional Green Cart Form to request additional Green Carts. City staff will contact you within two business days to confirm your request and arrange payment, as well as delivery.
Additional Green Carts can be purchased from the City for residents to use for weekly Green Cart collection. Purchased Green Carts remain the property of the resident and do not impact the annual garbage utility fee.
Fees for additional Green Carts are based on the size cart you choose:
- 120L size = $140
- 240L size = $150 (standard size)
- 360L size = $160
