Do you have furniture or other large household items you no longer want that can’t be donated?
Residents who receive the City’s curbside collection service can have up to four large household items collected each year, July 1 to June 30, by choosing one of the following options:
- Put out four items at the same time, once per year, or;
- Put out one, two or three items at different times of the year up to a maximum of four times per year.
How to Schedule Large Item Pick-Up
Once your request has been received and reviewed, Waste Connections will contact you to confirm your collection and provide a date(s) for pickup. Make note of this date – if you miss your scheduled collection it will still count towards your item count for the year.
- On the day of your scheduled collection, ensure items are out by 7:30 a.m. Items cannot be placed out any earlier than the night before as per the Boulevard Maintenance Bylaw No. 4853, 2018.
- There is a 70 kg (150 lbs) maximum weight restriction per item. Items that can’t safely be lifted will not be collected.
- Important note: Please place large items at the curbside for collection ensuring they do not block the sidewalk or traffic - see photo examples below. Please note that crews will not access private property to collect an item.
Large items not accepted as part of the Large Item Pickup program may be able to be recycled, please go to the Recycling Council of British Columbia to search for potential recycling options. Other items can be taken to the United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Center for disposal (fees apply).
