- Teri has lived in Coquitlam for 20 years and is thrilled to be raising her active teens, Jessica and Christopher, in our beautiful city.
- Teri has a business degree from SFU and worked for 10 years in retail banking, 16 years with a major BC utility in various Human Resources management and analyst positions and one year as a Special Events Officer for a local non-profit organization.
- Teri has always been involved in a wide variety of community initiatives. Some examples:
- Teri currently serves on the Board of Directors for Community Volunteer Connections
- Recently appointed to serve on the Habitat for Humanity Family Partnering Committee
- In 2016, Teri co-founded the TriCities Friends of Refugees Task Group (TFOR) which she currently Chairs
- She represents the TFOR task group on the BC Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture’s TriCities Chapter of Organizing Against Racism & Hate Networks
- Teri is active with the Talk of the Town Toastmasters Club
- Recipient of the inaugural Women’s Collaborative Hub 2017 “Inspirational Wonder Woman” award
- Teri has extensive involvement as a longtime volunteer for various community initiatives including SHARE Family & Community Services, Raise-a-Reader literacy campaigns, Operation Red Nose safe ride home, organizing Terry Fox runs, Pink Shirt Day Anti-Bullying, Shoreline CleanUp, telethons and the 55+ BC Summer Games
- Teri and her family are active in the Adopt-a-Street litter control program. She organizes litter clean-up events regularly
- She was nominated for the Society for Community Development’s “Spirit of Community” award
- She was also a clinic manager and running leader and was nominated for SportMedBC’s SunRun clinic “Leader of the Year”
- Teri covered community events for the print and web publication snapd Coquitlam over 5 calendar years
- She has been heavily involved in local education as PAC executive: 8 years on an elementary PAC, 5 years on a middle school PAC and 2 years – with more to come – on a secondary PAC. Teri has also been serving on the District 43 PAC executive since 2010 and was awarded the 2013 provincial BCCPAC Award for Excellence in Parent Leadership
- In her capacity of DPAC43 executive, served on the Tri-Cities Traffic Safety Committee
- Took the lead on starting a Breakfast Program at a Coquitlam elementary school
- Two years prior to being elected, she was appointed to Coquitlam Sports Advisory Committee
- Teri is passionate about amateur sports and recreation, traffic safety, community initiatives and being active in our great outdoors
Teri was elected in 2014 and has been:
- Chair of the Sustainability and Environmental Advisory Committee
- Vice Chair of the Parcel Tax Review Panel
- Member of the Metro Vancouver Housing Committee
- Council Representative for the Tri-Cities Homelessness and Housing Task Group
- Alternate on the Coquitlam River Watershed Roundtable
