What’s old can be new again thanks to the skilled volunteers at Coquitlam’s Bike Repair Café.
COQUITLAM, B.C., July 3, 2025 – What’s old can be new again thanks to the skilled volunteers at Coquitlam’s Bike Repair Café.
Drop by Buchanan Square (next to Coquitlam City Hall, 3000 Guildford Way) on Saturday, July 19 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. with your bicycle or scooter for a free check-up and repair – giving it new life and saving it from the landfill. Volunteers can help with basic repairs like adjusting brakes and gears, inflating tires, fixing flat tubes, chain maintenance and tightening loose parts. Please note, parts will not be available on site. If you know what part your bike needs, please bring it with you.
HUB Cycling and TORCA (Tri-Cities Off Road Cycling Association) will be onsite to answer questions and share information. HUB will focus on local cycling routes, and safe and accessible transportation; while TORCA will highlight local mountain bike trails and ways to get involved in trail riding. Young riders can enjoy a fun mini skills course, hosted by TORCA.
This popular community event is a fun and sustainable way to reduce waste and connect with others. Find full event details at coquitlam.ca/RepairCafe.

Reduce Waste, Support Sustainability
Coquitlam supports a circular economy and encourages residents to participate. A circular economy aims to minimize waste by keeping products and materials in use for as long as possible. This includes choosing durable and repairable items, reusing materials and participating in initiatives like Repair Cafés. This sustainable approach helps address climate change by reducing emissions tied to product manufacturing, use, and disposal.
Coquitlam offers a range of tools for residents to reduce waste and embrace sustainable practices.
- Recycling Options: In addition to curbside recycling, residents can use the United Boulevard Recycling and Waste Centre and other local recycling facilities. Learn more at coquitlam.ca/Recycling.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum), meaning “Red Fish Up the River.” The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee) and other Coast Salish Peoples.
