COQUITLAM, BC, Sept. 28, 2020 – Coquitlam residents who are considering replacing their old clothes washers could get a $100 rebate – and save on their energy bills – by upgrading to ENERGY STAR models before Friday, Nov. 27.
From Oct. 2 to Nov. 27 or until funding is exhausted, Coquitlam residents who purchase and install qualifying ENERGY STAR models can apply for a rebate online by visiting BC Hydro’s website www.bchydro.com/appliances.
Offered each year since 2015, the rebate program is a collaboration between the City of Coquitlam and BC Hydro, with each chipping in half of the rebate. BC Hydro also offers rebates for other appliance upgrades during the same time period.
Helping the Environment
- ENERGY STAR clothes washers use approximately 33 per cent less water and 25 percent less energy than conventional washers.
- High spin speeds extract more water. Less moisture in the clothes means less time and energy used by the dryer.
- Heating water accounts for 90 per cent of a clothes washer’s energy use. Save more energy by washing clothes in cold water.
