COQUITLAM, B.C., September 22, 2025 – Join Coquitlam at our Celebration Stations during Go by Bike Week, September 27 to October 3 and learn tips on cycling year-round.
Every year, Coquitlam partners with local non-profit HUB Cycling, hosting celebration stations and encouraging team or personal challenges. This fall’s events will provide experienced and novice riders information on how cycling can be safe, comfortable and fun year-round.

Celebration stations will offer free maps, cycling resources, tips and local route information, as well as snacks and hot drinks. Residents are encouraged to sign up online and log their cycling trips each day for a chance to win prizes – register at bikehub.ca/gbbw.
Coquitlam’s Commitment to Cycling and Sustainable Transportation
The City’s annual participation in Go by Bike Week events are just one example of our ongoing commitment to cycling and sustainable transportation.
- Coquitlam has 35km of cycling infrastructure.
- For quick DIY repairs, stop by the bike maintenance stations at Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier Street) or City Centre Aquatic Complex (1210 Pinetree Way). They are equipped with the basic tools to make adjustments and pump up tires.
- For temporary parking, use the TransLink bike parkades at Lafarge Lake-Douglas and Burquitlam SkyTrain stations.
- Don’t have your own wheels? Rent an e-bike (or e-scooter) from Lime in City Centre.
- Cyclists can access bike route details and rider safety information on the TransLink TriCities Cycling map (including Anmore and Belcarra).
The City is closely examining the role of micromobility (light transportation modes such as bikes and scooters) as part of the update to the Coquitlam’s Transportation Plan.
With the right gear, cycling is possible year-round in Coquitlam, and with the popularity of e-bikes, hills and longer distances are no longer the obstacles that they once were. More information on cycling in Coquitlam can be found at coquitlam.ca/cycling.
About Coquitlam’s Updated Transportation Plan
The City adopted its current Strategic Transportation Plan in 2012. Since then, there have been significant changes including the addition of SkyTrain, consideration of different kinds of street users and emerging technologies to address climate change mitigation and adaptation.
A new Transportation Plan is being developed in five phases, supported by two key strategies: an E-Mobility Strategy and a Road Safety Strategy. These will move forward in parallel, guided by the Plan’s vision and themes. The Plan will also align with other important City initiatives, including the recently completed Environmental Sustainability Plan and Economic Development Strategy, as well as the Climate Action Plan and Accessibility and Inclusion Plan that are currently in progress.
