CCAC Annual Maintenance Closure
Sep. 7 - Oct. 4
City Centre Aquatic Complex will be closed for annual maintenance on Sept. 7, reopening on Oct. 4. Alternate swim options include:
Spani Outdoor Pool (655 Hillcrest St.)
Eagle Ridge Outdoor Pool (2689 Guildford Way)
Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St.)
Outdoor pools will remain open until October to provide extra swim options for patrons.
The Fitness Centre remains temporarily relocated to the Innovation Centre at 1207 Pinetree Way while renovations are underway at CCAC. Renovations are expected to be complete this fall. Learn more about the CCAC Expansion project.
BC Vaccine Card Requirements for Recreation Activities
As of Sept. 13, proof of vaccination will be required for entry to certain places and programs, as outlined by the provincial government.
Visitors 12 years and older will be required to show their BC Vaccine Card prior to entry at a City facility include:
Events, including recreational programs, with more than 50 people
Arenas when being used for adult sport (22 years and older)
Weight rooms, gymnasiums, fitness/dance studios (12-21 years exempt if a youth-specific program)
Adult (22 years and older) sports, exercise, fitness or dance activities of any size
Indoor ticketed sporting events
Proof of vaccination, must show name and vaccination status. Adults 19 years and older will also be required to show a piece of government ID.
Proof of vaccine will not be required at the following:
Recreational activities and programs with less than 50 participants other than those which are considered adult sport, exercise, fitness or dance activities.
Swimming pools (Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex, City Centre Aquatic Complex, Eagle Ridge Outdoor Pool, Spani Outdoor Pool)
Arenas when not being used for an event or adult sport (22 years and older) (Poirier Sports and Leisure Complex, Poirier Forum)
Child and youth sport and recreational programs for those under the age of 22 years
Before and after school programs
Teachers/instructors providing education activities with their students in City facilities
Rehab or exercise therapy programs
For parents, attendants and support people acting in a service capacity
Safety protocols are in place at all City facilities to ensure the safety of program participants and staff.
Masks will be mandatory for all people 12 years and older regardless of vaccination status. Specific to the community recreation setting, masks must be worn in common areas but may be removed during physical activity (sport and exercise). The following individuals are exempt from mask wearing:
Children under 12
People who cannot wear a mask or who cannot put on or remove a mask without assistance
People who are not able to wear a mask due to a psychological, behavioural, or health condition, or a physical, cognitive or mental impairment
Important Note: Group fitness classes will be available for drop-in this fall and can be found here the first week of September. Cycle Fit will remain the only classes at this time with pre-registration.
