COQUITLAM, B.C., August 7, 2026 – As conditions improve around the current air quality advisory and the nearby fire in Belcarra, Coquitlam’s Summer Concert event tonight featuring Classic Elton will continue, but residents are advised to enjoy the event safely.
The City has been monitoring the current situation regarding the fire in Belcarra and the current air quality advisory. The fire is now considered stable and under control, and the forecast indicates that the smoke will start to filter out from the coastal regions today and continue to improve over the weekend.
Tips to Attend Summer Concerts Safely
Come enjoy the show, but while conditions improve, monitor any potential impacts to your health and those attending with you.
- Check air quality readings before heading out at airmap.ca
- Stay cool and drink plenty of fluids
- Dance for a short period only, or enjoy the show from your seat
- Head home early if you are not comfortable or feel impacts from the air
- Keep an eye on friends and family who are attending with you, especially seniors and children
