Major Facilities Roadmap

Planning for the Future

In February 2025, a draft Major Facilities Roadmap was introduced. The draft document maps out the development and renewal of civic, recreation and cultural facilities over the next 30 years.

In addition to providing a guiding plan for Council and staff, the high-level draft document offers more transparency for residents by outlining the decision-making framework for when and how facilities will be enhanced, replaced and added.

The draft Major Facilities Roadmap will be shared with Coquitlam's advisory committees and operating partners before being finalized for adoption later this year.

Recreation Centre Innovation Lecture Series

The City of Coquitlam hosted a four-part lecture series in June 2021 to discuss trends and innovations in public recreation facilities. These free, live-streamed and recorded events were focused on industry-specific topics.

Each lecture included locally and internationally practicing professionals in recreation who contributed their expertise in their respective fields. The discussions allowed for multiple perspectives on a range of different topics including designing for aquatics, sports, ice arenas, and seniors and youth.

The lectures are intended to be educational events that encourage collaboration of specializations, ideas, and visions for the future.

The video recordings of each session are included below. Thank you to everyone who participated in the series!
