AccessAbility Resource Fair

Learn about the City's accessible program options, and meet with local agencies and non-profit groups supporting accessible services in Coquitlam.

    • Fair location in Gymnasium 1
    • Workshops in Rooms 8 and 9
    • Low sensory space in Room 7
  • Free to attend, no registration required

Workshops and Demonstration Schedule

  • 10 to 10:30 a.m. – Floor Curling Demonstration
  • 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. – Accessible Transit Workshop with TransLink
  • 11:50 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. – Floor Curling Demonstration
  • 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. – Special Olympics Athlete Experience Speakers, Amanda and Adam
    • Amanda has been involved with Special Olympics for 23 years, and has participated in the World Games twice (soccer and athletics). She was also chosen to go to Austria for the final leg of the torch run for the 2017 Winter World Games.  She has also completed 5 half marathons!
    • Adam has been a part of Special Olympics for over 27 years, having first joined in 1997. Since then, he has taken up a number of different sports such as soccer, softball, 10 pin bowling, alpine skiing, floor hockey and golf. He has been to several Provincial Games, but his highlights include attending the National Games twice; once in 2004 for Alpine Skiing in Charlottetown, and once in 2014 for Athletics in Vancouver. Adam also competed in soccer at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles. Off the field, his leadership and speaking skills have given him the honour of speaking at some of Special Olympics BC's biggest fundraisers, including the 2009 Sports Celebrities Festival and the 2017 Vancouver Auto Show.
