• Eight pre-approved locations on City streets and boulevards

• Interested vendors can propose additional street and boulevard sites for consideration

3. When can I operate?

• 7 days per week
• Hours at the discretion of the operator between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m.
• Year-round

4. How much does it cost?

• Annual licence fee is $1,000
• Damage deposit of $1,000
• Parking fees

5. What are the requirements?

A full list of the requirements is available in the Request for Expressions of Interest, which is posted on our Bid Opportunities page annually from fall to the first Monday in March. Some of the requirements include: 

• Mobile vending agreement
• Proof of insurance
• Coquitlam Fire/Rescue approval (if cooking food on site)
• Health Authority approval (if serving food)
• City of Coquitlam business licence

6. Is there a specific intake date for the Street Vending Program?

Interested businesses must complete a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) every year. The RFEI is posted on the bid opportunities page in the fall and open until the first Monday in March. 

Mid-year applications may be considered, provided spaces for the street vendors are available at the time.

Applications for street vendor licences on private property and for mobile vending licences are accepted throughout the year.

7. How do I apply to operate as a Street Vendor?

1. Formulate your business plan, including market research
2. Set an appointment with a City licensing representative
3. Complete the Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) between fall and the first Monday in March
4. Submit a business licence application (PDF) to the City

Vendors selected to operate will then enter into a mobile vending agreement with the City. Setting up as a street vendor is a multi-step process and the final step is a business licence. Contact our office for more information on requirements.
