Reference Services

Archives staff members are available to guide researchers through the available search tools and can help to identify records that may be relevant to a research enquiry or question. An appointment is recommended for records retrieval and assistance with research.

Research Tips

To make the most of your visit to the City of Coquitlam Archives:

  • Search Quest, the Archives’ Online Search Portal (an online database of descriptions of the records preserved by the Archives).
  • Plan to spend some time discussing your research needs with staff. We may be able to think of additional collections that might be relevant.
  • Leave yourself ample time so that you can review all of the records and take notes, if necessary. It’s always best to schedule some additional time for the unexpected. Discoveries and new questions unearthed during research may lead you down a different path than originally anticipated.
  • Remember that our archives staff is there to provide guidance and to refer you to relevant material. Staff cannot conduct research for you. If you would like to hire a professional researcher, staff can put you in touch with a research consultant.

Current Exhibits

City of Coquitlam Archives serves a dual purpose: to preserve and to make accessible the records of enduring value of the City of Coquitlam and its predecessor administrative bodies.

The Archives is a resource for residents and researchers alike, providing information and insights from Coquitlam’s past through online and in-person exhibits as well as access to a vast collection of unique and authentic historical records.
