COQUITLAM, B.C., February 23, 2026 – Coquitlam utility bills are in the mail, and property owners can expect to receive them in the coming days. Payment is due March 31.
Issued at the end of February, utility bills cover the cost of clean drinking water, garbage and green waste collection, and sewer services. Billed separately from property taxes, the majority of the fees pay for water and sewer treatment and solid waste facilities provided by Metro Vancouver. The utility bill also funds operating and maintenance costs, construction costs for the replacement of aging pipes, reservoirs and pump stations, and administration and public education programs.
Read more about how utility fees are used in the insert mailed with utility bills or online at coquitlam.ca/utility.

Utility payments are due March 31, 2026. After this date, a 5 per cent penalty will be added to amounts unpaid. A further 5 per cent will be added to accounts unpaid after October 1, 2026.

Metro Vancouver Regional District Utility Costs
The Metro Vancouver Regional District was created to ensure the necessary coordination of water treatment and distribution, sewer treatment and solid waste disposal for all municipalities in the region. The City gets billed our share of these costs every year and these costs are collected from your utility fees. That means when Metro Vancouver increases their costs, the utility fees that Coquitlam residents pay also increases.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
