Recreation & Community Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, gain valuable experience, have fun and get involved in your community. Volunteer your time:

  • In swimming or skating lessons
  • With festivals and events
  • As a host or as a meet and greeter
  • As a recreation assistant in sports, arts and craft programs or day camps
  • On a youth committee or council
  • With food services at the 50-plus pavilions
  • Coquitlam Youth Council (CYC) - The "Voice of Youth" provides ideas, feedback, and suggestions on city-wide initiatives, programs, and current issues facing youth in Coquitlam. We connect with our peers, gather opinions, and advocate for a youth-friendly community.

Volunteer Requirements

  1. Create a Volunteer Profile - Visit the volunteer portal to create a volunteer profile. You will use this profile to see what opportunities are available, sign up for volunteer shifts and track your hours. Minimum age to volunteer is 13 years old.
  2. Provide References - While creating volunteer profile, provide two references for Volunteer Services to contact to help us learn more a little more about your skills and experiences.References should be over the age of 19 and not a relative.
  3. Complete a Police Information Check - All volunteers are required to submit a Police Information Check. A link to print the forms will be provided to you upon creating a volunteer profile. There is no cost for prospective volunteers.
  4. Attend an Orientation Session - After successfully completing the reference and Police Information Checks, you will receive an invite to attend an orientation session. At the orientation you will learn about volunteer roles and expectations as well as how to sign up for volunteer opportunities.
