Public transit is an effective alternative for commuting in reducing public reliance on vehicle use and consequently, greenhouse gas emissions. The City of Coquitlam supports public transit as a key element in building a liveable and economically vibrant community. City of Coquitlam and TransLink share the responsibility for the passenger facilities and pathways to access transit.
West Coast Express and Skytrain
Coquitlam is served by various transit routes including the R3 RapidBus, the SkyTrain Millennium Line Evergreen Extension and West Coast Express commuter train. In partnership with TransLink, the City promotes convenient, comfortable and efficient public transit service for people of all ages and abilities.
Bus
TransLink is responsible for transit services in the region. All conventional bus services in Coquitlam are provided by Coast Mountain Bus Company (CMBC). City of Coquitlam and TransLink share the responsibility for the passenger facilities and pathways to access transit. CMBC is responsible for the transit exchanges and all facilities within them. They are also responsible for the location of bus stops, in consultation with Coquitlam, and the bus stop poles and signs. All other bus stop amenities and accessibility, including benches, shelters and sidewalks, are the responsibility of the City.
TransLink’s HandyDART provides a door-to-door customer transit service to carry passengers with physical or cognitive disabilities who are unable to use public transit without assistance. Program registration and a small fee are required to ensure that each eligible passenger’s travel needs are considered.
