Coquitlam invests in core transportation and utility infrastructure supporting safety, asset management and economic development. Capital construction projects support growth by improving the movement of people and goods, ensuring reliable sewer and water services and managing stormwater. 

  • Please use alternate routes to avoid delays during construction, and note that anticipated start dates are subject to change and weather delays.
  • Keep  aware of work crews and equipment, and please obey all traffic control personnel and signs, including construction speed limits.

Current Ongoing Projects

The following projects are long-term projects taking place that will bring infrastructure and safety improvements for residents and all road users.  See the road project map to view specific areas where traffic will be affected on key routes. 

  • Pipeline Road Upgrade Project (David Avenue to Guildford Way) is a City capital project focused on improving road safety and active transportation options, increasing road capacity, and making Town Centre Park easier to access. Construction is being completed in two phases and the first phase (Guildford Way to Gabriola Drive) began in spring 2025 and will be ongoing until early 2026. 
  • Metro Vancouver’s Coquitlam Water Main Project is an ongoing project to construct a new water main in Coquitlam to meet the growing demand for drinking water in the region, and the project is being divided into 4 sections. In 2023, work began on the Guildford Way to Robson Drive section and will be ongoing to fall 2026. Work is currently underway between David Avenue and Robson Drive.
  • Metro Vancouver Dewdney Trunk Road Water Main Project is approximately 1.6 kilometres long, 0.9 metres in diameter, and runs along Dewdney Trunk Road between Lougheed Highway and Pier Drive. It will replace an existing main built in 1950, which has reached the end of its service life. Pre-construction activities began in November 2025. Construction is expected to begin in early 2026 and will take approximately one year to complete.
  1. Road Work - Intersection of Clarke Road and Como Lake Avenue

  2. Night Time Road Work - Brunette Avenue and Lougheed Highway

    The City's contractor will be repaving Brunette Ave from Allard St to just west of Lougheed Hwy, and Lougheed Hwy from Blue Mountain St to Woolridge St. Work will take place starting May 11, nightly, Monday to Friday, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Read on...
  3. Road Closure – Cedar Drive from 4150 Cedar Drive to Gilleys Trail
