1. COVID-19 Update: Jan. 21, 2022

    As of Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022, weight rooms at Poirier Sport & Leisure Complex and City Centre Aquatic Complex have reopened to the public with pre-registered time blocks, distancing and capacity limits in place. Masks are required for all staff and patrons when not actively exercising. Indoor and outdoor group fitness classes are anticipated to return as of Monday, Jan. 24. 

    Weight room access and outdoor spin classes will require pre-registration, which opens 48 hours in advance. Indoor drop-in group fitness is first come, first served. Find options and register here

    The City of Coquitlam operates within the requirements set out by the Provincial Health Officer and all current public health orders are followed including proof of vaccination requirements and mask mandates. For specifics on when and where vaccinations are required for City programs, visit the COVID-19 web page.

Learn to Skate Lessons

The City of Coquitlam offers a variety of different learn to skate opportunities for all ages and abilities. 

  • Parent and Tot (Ages 2 1/2 to 5 yrs) 
  • Preschool (Ages 3 to 5 yrs) Levels 1 to 6
  • School Age (Ages 6 to 12 yrs) Levels 1 to 6
  • Youth (Ages 13 to 18 yrs) Beginner and Intermediate Options
  • Adult (Ages 19 yrs + ) Beginner and Intermediate Options

  1. Request a free skate evaluation at one of our drop-in public skates
  2. Scan and email us your report card from a different municipality.

CSA or Snow Sport helmets are mandatory for all lesson participants. Free helmets are available at the skate shop.

One Set at a Time

Skating lesson participants can only be registered for one set of lessons at a time. You may register your child for the next set of lessons on the last day of the current set.

Please note, your child will be withdrawn from a program(s) if registered in more than one lesson set, or if they are registered in future lesson sets prior to completing the set they are currently registered in.

    No preregistration is required for drop-in special skates. Skates are first come, first serve and capacity limits apply. Family rates apply, unless otherwise specified.

    Winter Olympic Celebration Skate – Sunday, Feb. 6,  1:15 – 2:30 p.m. / 2:45 – 4 p.m.
    Join the Coquitlam Express and dress up to represent the country you're cheering for!

    Family Day Skate – Monday, Feb. 21
    10:30 –11:45 a.m. / 12 – 1:15 p.m. / 1:30 –2:45 p.m.

    Pink Shirt Day Skate – Wednesday, Feb. 23, 6:45 – 8 p.m.
    Wear your Pink Shirt and join the skate against bullying. Toonie skate (includes rentals).

    Pro-D Day Skate – Friday, Feb. 25, 12:15 – 1:45 p.m. / 2 – 3:15 p.m.
    Toonie skate (includes rentals).
