Tenant Improvements

You need a Tenant Improvement Permit for any new construction or the proposed alteration of an existing building (e.g. installation of windows, washrooms, racking, walls). Applying tenants are required to get permission from the owner of the building prior to construction. Please see our Tenant Improvement Brochure (PDF) for more information.

Accepting Digital Submissions

The City is accepting electronic applications for all permit types to provide customer service options. Applying online allows you to submit a permit application 24/7, some permits may include online payment of fees, and is the quickest way to submit your permit application!

Submitting Permit Applications in Person

We continue to accept permit applications in person at the building permit counter at City Hall. Permits can be submitted from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, except Statutory Holidays.

Complete the Permit Application Form (PDF) in full.
Include applicable checklist(s) in the application package:
