Celebrate Seniors Week in Coquitlam

Fitness class in progress

COQUITLAM, B.C., May 21, 2024 – From June 2 to 8, adults 50 and better can join free, fun activities in Coquitlam parks and recreation centres.

Each year, the City recognizes BC Seniors Week to acknowledge the contributions of seniors in our community. This year, Seniors Week is proudly presented by Aspira Retirement Living (Astoria and Mayfair Terrace).

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning “Red Fish Up the River”. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
