Subdivisions

You must apply to the City for any proposed subdivision of land , including:

  • Creating two or more lots out of one lot
  • Adjusting an existing property (lot) line
  • Consolidating two or more lots into one

The City’s Approving Officer will review and consider all subdivision applications against the requirements of the City’s Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw and the Zoning Bylaw, including minimum lot dimensions; lot area; and lot width and development servicing requirements such as sidewalk, street lighting, and sewer and water connections.

Subdivision & Development Servicing Bylaw

Unless exempted under a Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw or another bylaw, a property owner or developer must install Works and Services in accordance with a Subdivision or Building Permit, on that portion of a Highway immediately adjacent to the site being subdivided or developed, up to the centre line of the Highway.
