The fall Spirit of Coquitlam Grant application period is opening soon, allowing registered not-for-profit organizations based in and serving Coquitlam residents to apply for financial support from the City.

COQUITLAM, B.C.,  August 12, 2024 – The fall Spirit of Coquitlam Grant application period is opening soon, allowing registered not-for-profit organizations based in and serving Coquitlam residents to apply for financial support from the City.

Coquitlam is accepting applications for the grant program from September 3 to October 1, 2024 at coquitlam.ca/SpiritGrant

Spirit of Coquitlam Grant Program
The City of Coquitlam has awarded more than $9.5 million grants to 254 different community organizations through the Spirit of Coquitlam Grant program since its launch in 2002.

Grants are awarded twice a year, in the spring and in the fall. To be eligible for a Spirit of Coquitlam Grant, projects must take place in Coquitlam, primarily benefit Coquitlam residents, be sustainable beyond the grant funding, and have outcomes that align with the City’s strategic priorities. Applicants must also be in good standing with the City.

Individual grant amounts will vary based on the category and project. Funding for projects is not guaranteed—it is a competitive process and priority may be given to groups who have not received funding previously. Details about the grant and application process are available at coquitlam.ca/SpiritGrant.

Application Support
The City of Coquitlam will be hosting webinars designed to help organizations understand the grant criteria, application process and requirements on September 11 at 7 p.m. and September 17 at 2 p.m. Registration details will be available on the grant website in September.

Applicants are also encouraged to contact the Grant Coordinators at CommunityGrant@coquitlam.ca or 604-927-3007 to discuss their application before completing it.

Timing for Grant Application and Awards
The City will review grant applications in the fall, with Council approval and announcement of the successful applicants and funding by December 2024.

The spring intake will open in February 2025.

We acknowledge with gratitude and respect that the name Coquitlam was derived from the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ (HUN-kuh-MEE-num) word kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (kwee-KWET-lum) meaning Red Fish Up the River. The City is honoured to be located on the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm traditional and ancestral lands, including those parts that were historically shared with the q̓ic̓əy̓ (kat-zee), and other Coast Salish Peoples.
